Issue 1: May 2006
Welcome to the first edition of Old City Web Services newsletter, True North. For those of you who don't have a nautical background, True North is the actual or true direction to the point where all the lines of longitude converge, the North Pole. The newsletter is designed to guide our clients in the right direction. We are planning to send the newsletter out on a bi-monthly (or maybe more often) basis in order to give our clients information about the services and features they have access to as part of being a customer of Old City Web Services. We also want to inform our clients of events that have occurred and will occur in the near future.
NEWS (and a little history)
Because of Old City Web Services past affiliation with Auglink and the current situation they are in, we want to assure our customers that we are here to stay! Old City Web Services is not going out of business and we are no longer affiliated with Auglink. You can rest assured that websites and email accounts that you have hosted with us are safe and will continue to function just as well or even better then they have in the past.
On May 13th of last year (2005), I (Chuck Nusbaum) became the majority stock holder of Old City Web Services, Inc. Since that time I have been guiding Old City Web Services on a path to separate us as much as possible from Auglink. As of May 1st of this year, the physical separation will be complete. In the past year we have made many improvements in our equipment, software, services and personnel and will continue to do so. All of our hosting servers have been upgraded and relocated to a hurricane category 5 rated facility. We have upgraded our mail server and its anti-virus software to give our clients the most secure and functional web based email system available; it allows you to safely and securely access your email from any computer anywhere in the world that is connected to the Internet. We have updated all of our design and programming software to the latest versions. Our Old City team has increased from four full time employees to a total of ten full time and two part time employees. Our portal, OldCity.com, is the number one site in all three of the major search engines for the term “St. Augustine” and we receive over 187,000 hits per day! That adds up to about 6 million hits per month.
MOVE
As of May 1st, we are in our new office suite. We didn't have too far to move, just across the atrium from where we were. Our new address is 2155 Old Moultrie Rd, Suite 109, St. Augustine, FL 32086. The only change is our suite number. Our phone number will stay the same, 904-829-2772. We are very excited about our move and invite you to stop by to see our new home.
REGULAR HELP
If you’ve been to our corporate site www.oldcitywebservices.com recently you will have noticed a big change. We have revamped and improved both the look and functionality of the site. Take the “Help Desk” page for instance. It now contains links to helpful web sites, software support, billing information, a form to update your contact information so we can give you more efficient service, a form for expediting the resolution of any issues you may have, and much, much more. In that “much, much more” category ……….
EMAIL HELP
One of the features of our new web based email system is the ability to send and receive email from any computer, anywhere in the world, as long as it’s connected to the Internet. Here is how to access this feature.
- On any web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, whatever) go to http://mail.oldcity.com:3000
- The interface will ask you to enter your email address and password. Enter your whole email address (whoever@whatever.com) and then your password. If you don’t know your password, contact your system administrator and if you don’t have a system administrator, contact us and we can reset your password for you.
- Email away!
You will notice that the program looks a lot like Outlook. Well, it performs a lot like Outlook. There is a help section built in to it for any questions you may have.
MORE LATER
The entire team here at Old City Web Services wants our clients to have the best service experience available. This newsletter will be focused on trying to help us achieve that goal by providing information, insight, and a competitive edge. We value all of our clients highly and want to do for them what our logo says, “Build a Powerful Identity For Your Business”.
Chuck Nusbaum,
President.
